Season 1, 2016

week 1

The contestants were asked to design traditional american tattoo's for their clients. 4 of the 10 were amazingly done, all tattoo's held the american flag. Sal, the contestant from Jersy was removed for missing stars on the tattoo. Mallory's tattoo of a cupcake in the flag colours won.

Week 2

This week the contestants were tested by creating tattoo's of birds. Some sank into bad old habits, others improved. Tiger was removed thanks to his tattoo misaligning its eyes. Al won with his eagle in a traditional style in flight

Week 3

This week was fine line week. Portraits were requested by all the models. Peter B impressed with the best image, a child sleeping on the models chest, looking so realistic and 3D. Mallory, although a strong contender with the traditional styles, failed with alot of blowouts on the ink, which you do not want with fine line work. She was evicted from the contest.

Week 4

The challenge for week 4, was tribal. The remaining 6 contestants were tasked to do polynesian style tattoo's on their willing victim's, er..models. GrantG was sure he was going to do well, but a series of blowouts on the lines put him down the line, though he did better than the weeks looser, Abraham, who's freestyling design failed to impress with not straight lines and clearly he had to go, a tattoo artist who cannot draw a straight line does not deserve to be in Ink Master.

Week 5

The contestants were told they had to step outside their comfort zones this week and create tattoos the total opposite of their usual style. Where the experts in chunky tribal work was asked to do portraits, those that specialized in colour were asked to use black and white. The contestants as  a whole were not best pleased with this challenge, and 3 seemed to struggle, one failing miserably with his portrait, having one of the artists stop him and take over so the model did not end up with a terrible tattoo. Luckily, Aeryn was able to correct it, and that contestant. Darren Morgan, was removed from the contest, leaving the final 5.

Week 6

This weeks challenge was pets. Animals being quite hard to do portraits of because of their colouring being a difficult for to catch. The 5 contestants seem to enjoy this as they got to meet the models animals prior to beginning their work. A dog, cat, rat, snake and tarantula. The snake and tarantula were voted the best of the day, while the cat, the worst, and Penny was removed from the contest.

Week 7

This week, Aeryn was spotted wearing a new ring, a teardrop pink engagement ring, and as a side competition, the contestants, the remaining 4, were given the task of working as teams to create matching his and hers ring tattoos for a pair of newlyweds. The team that won were given immunity, while the second team had to impress the judges with  tattooing eachother. Alistair was removed, his rendition of a devil on his partner Paige was lacking something, though at this stage the competition was getting to tight to decide and the judges were finding it harder to find faults.
